Following a rumour from a little while ago, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has officially been announced by Rockstar Games. This release will bring upgrades, gameplay enhancements, graphical improvements, and more to Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Rockstar also says that this release will retain the classic look and feel of the original with these enhancements. The collection is debuting later this year on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. The iOS and Android versions will arrive in the first half of next year. Watch the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition teaser trailer below:
While the teaser doesn’t have any footage of these new versions, it is worth noting that Rockstar Games will begin delisting the originals on all digital storefronts beginning next week. If you still want the original Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on mobile, you might want to buy them while you can individually or through this discounted bundle release. It is unclear whether you will be able to download them from your purchases after they are delisted or not. Hopefully you are able to, but this also means that these original mobile releases will likely not be supported going forward with future iOS and iPadOS versions. Either way, I adore Grand Theft Auto Vice City and own it on everything so will be replaying it a few times on different platforms once Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition releases. What would you like to see changed or improved in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition?
