Three years ago, Spike Chunsoft brought the Nintendo DS game Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer to iOS and Android in Japan. The Nintendo DS release was actually a port of the SNES version. It saw an English release on DS in 2008 thanks to SEGA in North America. It was sadly never localized by Spike Chunsoft for mobile. Today, the company has released Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate (quite the mouthful of a name) on mobile (via GameCast) in Japan as a premium release. Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is an excellent roguelike that debuted outside Japan on PS Vita and recently saw an enhanced release on PC and Nintendo Switch. Read Shaun’s review of the Switch version here. This mobile version uses the enhanced Nintendo Switch and PC versions as its base with support for both portrait and landscape play. As of now, Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is available to buy outside Japan on PC and Nintendo Switch for $19.99. If you’d like to get the Japanese mobile version, you can grab it for 2,200 Yen on the App Store for iOS here and Google Play for Android here. I’ve reached out to Spike Chunsoft about a potential localization of this version for the West. I hope it does show up, but we are still waiting on a hint of news for Danganronpa V3 on mobile which was delayed in May last year. When I played Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate on PS Vita, I was hoping it would get ported to something in the future because more people needed to play it. Now that it is on PC and Nintendo Switch, hopefully Spike Chunsoft considers letting mobile players outside Japan experience this excellent roguelike on the phone as a premium release. Have you played Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate on any platform before?
